Overweight and obesity are defined as the accumulation of abnormal or excessive fat, which presents a risk to health. Obesity is usually identified by body mass index (BMI). Body mass index is determined by dividing the kilogram weight by length/centimeter. A person with a BMI of 30 or more is generally considered obese. A BMI of 25 people or equivalent is considered overweight. The normal body mass index among Indians is between 23 and 25 percent. More than 25 percent body mass index is classified as obese.


Over-obesity and obesity are important risk factors for many chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Overweight and obesity were previously considered a problem in overweight countries, but now overweight and obesity have become a major health problem in low and middle-income countries. People living in urban areas, in particular, suffer from this problem.


Obesity:

Obesity is the major enemy of a person's health. Obesity is the main cause of many diseases. Obesity is also a cause of blood cholesterol problems. The obese person has twice the risk of heart disease and paralysis as the normal person and the risk of diabetes is three times higher. Obesity is also the main cause of problems of joints, kidney stones, gallstones, arthritis, etc., due to obesity, a person appears to be older than his actual age. Adolescent obesity increases the risk of heart disease, blood, and diabetes by the age of 35. More people are killed who are overweight and act as precursors to non-communicable diseases such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes, osteoarthritis. Cancer

During childhood, obesity causes difficulty breathing, high blood pressure, and psychological effects. And later, high blood pressure, along with heart disease, disability in life, and premature death can occur. Eating healthy and regular physical activity prevents obesity.


Lack of physical activity and bad food:

The main cause of obesity is lack of physical activity and ease of soft lifestyle. An unhealthy diet and genetics are also a major factor in increasing obesity. Fast food, snacks, fried items, chips, etc. available in the market increase obesity. Fat content, sugars, fast food, chocolate, soft drinks, ice cream, etc. increase obesity.


Physical activity:

To get rid of overweight and obesity, it is important to get rid of restlessness. Relieved of this problem is possible by adopting a disciplined lifestyle and nutritious diet. For this, physical activities like morning walks, yoga, pranayama, sports, exercise, cycling should be adopted. Physical activity increases blood circulation in the body, regulates blood sugar levels, helps to lower blood pressure, strengthens muscles, and does not accumulate body fat.



Morning walk:
  • A healthy person should walk 4-5 km daily.
  • Must walk at least 1/2 to 1 km before dawn.
  • People suffering from heart disease should walk slowly.
  • Should be compatible with physical ability.
  • Climb the stairs instead of the lift.

Exercise required:

One should do yoga and pranayama. Apart from this, jogging or stretching exercises also have many advantages.


Avoiding:

  • Avoid excessive consumption of sweet foods like cold drinks, chocolate, jalebi, sweet.
  • Avoiding too much salt.
  • Avoid greasy things like ghee, oil, fat, butter, etc.
  • Avoid overeating.
  • Avoid market foods.
  • Instead of eating too much at once, eat less at certain intervals.


Eat healthy food:

  • Roasted gram and feet should be consumed in breakfast.
  • Dry fruits like walnuts, almonds, peanuts, cashew nuts, etc. should be consumed.
  • Drink plenty of clean water.
  • Vegetables should be added to your diet plan,
  • Seasonal fruits should be used.
  • Yoga should always be done.
  • Always be happy.
  • Always keep positive thinking.
